Clear ideas lead to great brand names.

The art of naming is about translating messages, values, and benefits into distinctive words, phrases, and neologisms. It’s context-dependent and requires the right connections and strategic compromises to get you a name that you like which does what you need it to do.

Below are some of my posts relevant to naming and branding. You can also jump to blog index and browse my titles, which are basically a bunch of names. Or reach out and ask me for examples of names I’ve created that are relevant to your category.

A successful project starts with defining the right objective. Here’s a handy naming brief guide you can use. And here is a naming guide in Polish.

A formal round of naming consists of (a) the creative phase, (b) availability checks, and (c) shortlist selection. Sometimes there’s a phase zero, too, which involves me in creating or refining the brief. In one such round of naming work—over the course of a week or so—I can generate 3-4 top recommendations and a dozen other viable ideas.

Naming work can be expensive, but if your verification needs are low, you don’t want a written report, you are championing a cause I care about, or your invention will save the planet, I can give you a discount and/or throw in the rights and licensing for free.
